Shan Tam and Michael Parker

Born in Hong Kong and living in Canada, Shan Tam has been active in the film and TV industry on both sides of the Pacific Ocean for nearly two decades.

Michael Parker is a Canadian born, award-winning filmmaker with a solid background in feature film production. Together, their produced work has earned multiple awards and numerous nominations.

Accessing Ms. Tam’s solid working relationship with Asian producers, Tam and Parker produced the first Canada-Hong Kong feature co-production, Young Offenders in 1993. They recently produced the second HK-Canada co-production Floored By Love as well as the Gemini Award winning documentary Made In China.

Through their service company, Maple Ridge Films, Tam and Parker have line produced for a number of international film productions including Jackie Chan's blockbuster movie Rumble in the Bronx and Andy Lau's Saviour of the Soul II. They have recently completed the production for two popular TV series Love Memories and Jade Buddha for Mainland China.

Prior to coming to Canada, Tam had worked with acclaimed filmmakers such as Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Chow Yun-Fat (Anna and the King), Yuen Wo-Ping (Matrix) and Cory Yuen (Romeo Must Die). Her work has taken her around the world to places such as Russia, Europe, Japan, China, Korea, North and Central America.

Recognizing the importance of international markets, Tam and Parker have been attending markets at Cannes, AFM, MIFED, Berlin, Banff, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
