Mabel Cheung’s A Tale of Three Cities, coproduced by Shan Tam, has international premiere September 17th at TIFF .   Following Toronto, the film will have special presentations in Vancouver at VIFF, September 25th and 27th.


June

Principal photography begins on The Last Race, written and directed by Stephen Shin and Michael Parker. The epic drama starring Joseph Fiennes tells the story of China-born Scottish Olympic champion and missionary, Eric Liddell. Announced in Variety, Deadline, The Guardian, The Independent, Empire and more...

Principal photography begins on Finding Mr. Right 2, starring Tang Wei and Wu Xiubo. Written and directed by Xiaolu Xue, the film is produced by Mathew Tang and Shan Tam and executive produced by Bill Kong at Edko. Filming takes place in Macau, Beijing, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Vancouver and London.


FEBRuary

Michael Parker’s award-winning The Corpse and the Courier will be featured February 23rd on the NSI Online Short Film Festival.  The National Screen Institute event is a Canadian Screen Awards qualifying festival.

Shan Tam’s recent activities are featured in columnist Malcolm Parry’s Vancouver Sun article.

Congratulations to Luc St. Pierre, composer on Malcolm Clarke’s 2014 Oscar-winning short documentary The Lady in Number 6Along with scoring The Lady in Number 6, Luc is also the composer for Clarke’s Oscar nominated documentary Prisoner of Paradise and has just completed the soundtrack for the hit video game Thief. We are fortunate to have had Luc compose the score for three of our films: Paper Moon Affair; Call it Karma; and most recently The Corpse and the Courier. The accomplished Montreal-based composer is featured in an interview with Danny Gonzalez in Examiner.

The Globe and Mail ranks Finding Mr. Right number 3 in Christmas article: What we can learn from the 10 biggest wins and losses of the year. 


As reported in Variety, Michael Parker and Edko’s Mathew Tang present case study on Finding Mr. Right at Whistler Film Festival’s 2013 Film Summit.


NOVEMBer

Principal photography begins in Anhui, China on Mabel Cheung and Alex Law’s wartime drama A Tale of Three Cities, produced for Nansun Shi’s Film Workshop and the Chinese studio Huayi Brothers.  The film stars Tang Wei (Finding Mr. Right; Lust,Caution) and Lau Ching-wan (Life Without Principle; Lunch with Charles).


China Lion releases Finding Mr. Right November 8th in Seattle, LA and New York.


14th San Diego Asian Film Festival screens the West Coast Premiere of Finding Mr. Right on November 7th.


OCTOber

Congratulations to next generation filmmakers Aidan Parker, Mackie Bryson-Bucci and Kael Vincent of Templeton Secondary whose film Amelia’s Spyglass received honorable mention as one of 12 films selected for the High School Film Competition at the 22nd Annual Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis, October 17 – 26.

Amelia’s Spyglass also played at the Empire Theatre, Times Square in New York City at the All American High School Film Festival October 4 – 6 and won a Gold Key Award at the 2013 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards earlier this year.

Whistler Film Festival announces Canadian premiere of Finding Mr. Right in December.

Shan Tam is a guest speaker at TIFF 2013 - Asia Film Summit.


JUNE

Congratulations to Shan Tam and Reunion Pictures for winning the Leo for Best Television Movie for Ring of Fire.  In total, the production won 8 Leo Awards.
